El Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina (CAF) aportará U$S 1,9 millones para dar continuidad a la Escuela y Laboratorio Móvil de Irrigación (ELMI), una iniciativa del Programa de Servicios Agrícolas Provinciales (PROSAP) del Ministerio de Agroindustria de la Nación que se ejecuta a través de la Unidad para el Cambio Rural (UCAR) desde hace un año y que ahora, contará con nuevas unidades móviles pudiendo ampliar de manera significativa sus acciones.

La ELMI es una política pública de transferencia de tecnología que promueve una mayor eficiencia en el uso del agua de riego. Cabe mencionar que, en los últimos meses y con una sola unidad móvil, capacitó a técnicos y productores de las provincias de Catamarca y Mendoza.

En esta nueva etapa, el aporte de la CAF no solo dará continuidad a este importante proyecto, sino que le permitirá extender sus capacitaciones a otras provincias, generando mayor conocimiento en materia de agua y riego. De esta manera, se continuará capacitando, informando y atendiendo las demandas de los productores y técnicos especializados con un total de tres unidades móviles, permitiendo brindar mayor cantidad de capacitaciones a campo.

La transferencia de tecnología se realizará capacitando a beneficiarios y también a asociaciones, cámaras, consorcios, escuelas, academias, universidades o grupos asociativos públicos o privados vinculados a la gestión o el uso del recurso hídrico.

Considerando que el 70% del territorio argentino es árido o semiárido, el riego resulta una actividad fundamental para el desarrollo rural del país. En este contexto, es prioritario lograr que la agricultura bajo riego produzca de manera más eficiente.
