CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas. México – A pesar de que año con año el gobierno federal invierte 200 millones de pesos, el 40 por ciento de los 5 mil kilómetros de canales de riego de los 7 distritos que hay en el estado, se encuentran en mal estado y originan que se desperdicie gran parte de los 900 millones de metros cúbicos que se destinan año con año para el riego agrícola.

Un estudio de la Comisión Estatal del Agua y de las Asociaciones de usuarios de los distritos de riego, indican que el mayor daño de los canales se ubican en municipios de la región fronteriza como es Camargo, Reynosa, Río Bravo, Matamoros, Valle Hermoso, donde se ubican los Distritos de Riego 025 y 026, que es donde se ubica la zona agrícola más importante de Tamaulipas, con más de 266 mil hectáreas.

Mientras que el resto se ubican en los municipios de Abasolo, Soto la Marina y Mante, donde también se cuenta con una gran cantidad de canales.

Durante los últimos cuatro años la Comisión Nacional del Agua, ha invertido en los distritos de riego casi 900 millones de pesos, los cuales se han utilizado para realizar obras de rehabilitación de los canales de riego, principalmente.

El reporte indica que durante el 2013 la CONAGUA realizó una inversión de 247 millones de pesos, en el 2014 la cifra autorizada fue de 200 millones de pesos, mientras que en el 2015 la suma aumentó a 220 millones de pesos y en el 2016 alcanzó los 250 millones de pesos, los cuales se destinaron para mejorar los siete distritos de riego.

Con esta inversión se logró realizar obras en 750 kilómetros de canales, los cuales fueron revestidos con concreto y para este año podrían alcanzarse los 800 kilómetros.

San Fernando y el sur del estado requieren de presas
A pesar de que el estado cuenta con siete presas de gran tamaño e importancia que permiten el riego agrícola y el uso del agua para consumo humano, existen proyectos que se encuentran abandonados como es el caso de la Presa el Tamesí, mientras que productores de San Fernando afirman que requieren de una presa para crear un nuevo distrito de riego en esta zona del estado.

Todos los ríos importantes cuentan con presas como la Marte R. Gómez, Vicente Guerrero, Pedro José Méndez, Emilio Portes Gil, Ramiro Caballero, República Española y el sistema lagunario, donde se almacenan los escurrimientos, señaló Gregorio Sauceda, dirigente campesino en San Fernando, quien dijo que hace falta una presa para el río Conchos.

Afirmó que a pesar de que por la Región de San Fernando cruza este importante río que siempre tiene agua, toda se tira al mar, ya que no se cuenta con una presa que permita aprovechar sus aguas para el riego agrícola.

Afirmó que la zona de San Fernando, la gran mayoría son de temporal y dependen de las lluvias para sembrar, por lo que sería favorable contar con un embalse, sin embargo la CONAGUA nunca ha contestado su petición.

Otro de los proyectos abandonados a pesar de la fuerte inversión que se hicieron, es la Presa Tamesí la cual sería ubicada en el sur del estado y permitiría captar agua de los ríos del sur del estado.

La presa Tamesí es un proyecto que se dio a conocer en el año 2005 anunciado en el cual se invirtieron 60 millones de pesos en los estudios.

El Proyecto Tamesí consiste en crear una represa aguas arriba de los diques del sistema lagunario del Tamesí y consiste en un vaso captador que permitiría tener una fuente de abasto de agua segura.

Sagarpa: se han invertido 198 mdp en ello

En los últimos años en Tamaulipas la Sagarpa ha invertido más de 198 millones de pesos en modernizar y tecnificar los sistemas de riego de 13 mil 300 hectáreas, afirmó el Delegado estatal Eduardo Mansilla Gómez.

Dijo que esto ha permitido mejorar la competitividad, con el uso más eficiente del agua en las Unidades Económicas Rurales Agrícolas del estado.

“Mediante el componente Tecnificación de Riego, que corresponde al Programa Fomento a la Agricultura, se promueve el establecimiento de sistemas de riego a nivel parcelario lo que permite incrementar la eficiencia y hacer las tierras más productivas”, señaló.
