La Presa almacena un volumen de 66,5 hm3 a 31 de marzo, 12 hm3 menos que a la misma fecha del año anterior, por lo que automáticamente ya se ha entrado en estado de pre alerta (lo marcan 67 hm3) y si la falta de precipitaciones persiste se podría llegar fácilmente a la situación de alerta en el próximo mes de agosto. (52,5 hm3).
LOS CORTES DE RIEGO SERÁN DE UN DÍA A LA SEMANA, A PARTIR DEL PRÓXIMO 12 DE ABRIL Y FINALIZARÁN EN SEPTIEMBRE
El planteamiento que se ha hecho establece tres hipótesis, No tomar medidas, establecer un ahorro de un 10% o con cortes de riego más importantes hasta el 25%.
ASAJA Málaga y los regantes han planteado la necesidad de no restringir mucho en verano los riegos de los tropicales y hortícolas de la Axarquía y se ha decidido establecer un ahorro en el riego de un 10% desde abril hasta septiembre, lo que puede suponer un ahorro de algo más de 2 hm3, llegándose a final de año con un volumen embalsado de unos 48 hm3.
Esta medida empezará a aplicarse con el corte de suministro de agua un día a la semana y técnicamente se aplicará a partir de la semana que viene, cortándose el riego los miércoles en la Margen Derecha y los jueves en la Margen Izquierda. Es decir, el primer corte será el miércoles 12 de abril cuando se cortará el suministro de la Margen Derecha del Plan Guaro y el Jueves Santo, 13 de abril, se procederá al corte durante todo el día en la Margen Izquierda, así hasta septiembre. Con esta medida se pretende ahorrar una cantidad modesta, pero ahorrar al fin y al cabo.
El Secretario de ASAJA Málaga Benjamin Faulí ha lamentado que no se tomen medidas que se venían reclamando ya desde 2015 para garantizar el suministro de forma definitiva “así como nuestro temor ante la falta de planificación para apuntalar la economía de la comarca, basada en la agricultura y el turismo que necesita una base sólida que solo puede darle el disponer de agua suficiente para su desarrollo y mantenimiento”.
